ArtSpots - Who we are

We are a broad network of artists, producers, directors, actors, singers, writers, musicians, and community activists of all stripes who engage around the process of creating films. We are looking to join with others who are fun and passionate about art as a vehicle for social change.

Pink Raincoat Films Producer/Director "Quiet & Strong" Kathlyn Albright opened the Pickford Cinema in Bellingham, Washington, Whatcom County's only independent movie house. In 1999 she moved to Seattle and worked for the Seattle International Film Festival and the Women In Cinema Festival. She founded Stopworks, a local media art collective with colleagues of hers from the festival arena. Kathlyn has written, produced and directed several short films of her own. Her work has shown at Seattle's One Reel Film Festival, Independent Exposure, the Palm Springs Festival of Short Films and has been broadcast on KING TV Seattle's CBS affiliate.

Michi Murayama
worked as a host of a local TV show and a DJ of a radio station in Japan, she moved to Seattle where she produces and directs segments for international TV. Her major Japanese clients include NHK, CX (Fuji TV), TBS, NTV, TV Asahi, TV Tokyo, and Japanese cable networks, such as NHK BS and Sky Klapers. She also directs and produces for commercial or corporate videos. These clients include Tully's Coffee, Microsoft, and Boing, Dentsu, Inc. and Hakuhodo, Inc. These last two are some of the larges advertising agencies in Japan.

Amy Stodghill has worked in TV and radio and has been involved with independent film and video production in the northwest for the past five years. Amy is a 2002 graduate of the doc program at the University of Washington. She also holds a degree in communication from Western Washington University.

Emperor Productions Tony Heidenrick helps non-profit organizations tell their visual stories through the development of compelling video for fundraising, outreach, education, volunteer Recruitment, and training. Founder Tony Heidenrick, has extensive experience in communications, technology, education and public affairs, including more than six years spent with some of the Northwest's largest communications agencies.

Small Planet Productions & Real Girls, Malory Graham is founder and director of Reel Grrls, an intensive media program for young women in Seattle, Washington. She has taught media literacy and video production workshops for teenagers in Switzerland and throughout the Puget Sound region since 1990. She founded the Young Producers Project at 911 Media Arts Center and has received numerous grants (McArthur, NEA, Technology Matching Fund, etc.) and production awards (President?s Environmental Youth Award, Hometown USA award.) Her work with youth has screened at both national and international festivals.

	Board President & Fun Factor Queen Evelyn has 8 years of program management experience from her stint at Microsoft. Ms. Jarosz started Flowerfly Productions, a video production company in 2001 and interned at 911Media Arts Center where she instigated the 911-film club. Her work has been shown at 911 Media Arts, SCN and Bumbershoot


	Board Member/Steadicam Operator Robin Buerki has 22 years experience with Stedicam and in the commercial film industry. His credits include Smoke Signals, The Ultimate Christmas Present, Frasier, Northern Exposure, The X-Files, Nash Bridges, Mariah Carey Special and commercials for Nike, Disney World, The Limited and Jeep.


	D & A Productions David and Andrea Brugman founded D & A Productions to work in cooperation with educators, businesses, artists, and policy makers to promote sustainable communities, healthy ecosystems, and artistic expression. David Brugman holds a degree in mechanical engineering and has completed courses in social anthropology and ethnomusicology. Andrea Brugman holds a masters degree in education as well as in linguistics and literature. She attended the University of Regensburg (Germany). During her studies, she gained experience in radio and TV journalism. In addition to being one half of D & A Productions, she is a professional translator and interpreter.


	Web Designer Jennifer Day has a love for illustration, and strong attention to detail. The challenges of understanding the user, providing intuitive navigation, and creating compelling graphics have become vital components to maintaining a successful online presence in today's "survival of the fittest" market. She worked with ESPN dot com before freelancing under the name Lillybug Design.

	Artspots board member, Tonya Huges, is a media planner and media buyer of 12 years. She worked with Allied Advertising in Philadelphia on accounts such as Paramount Pictures, Universal and Sony Entertainment. In 2002 she founded Media Genie in Seattle and began freelancing as a media consultant. Ms. Huges is active in the advertising community and also serves on the board of the Seattle Ad Federation. She has a Bachelors in advertising and a Masters in mass communication research.


	Board Member David Bernstein has been making films and videos since 1980, working on feature films, corporate videos and television broadcasts that won him awards and critical acclaim for his work. David also has an illustrious career in software development and instructional design, spending over a decade as one of IBM's top trainers in their software development curriculum. He is president of Magic Baby Productions, which produced Connect, a video about the youth environmental movement that aired internationally on MTV for Earth Day 1997.


	Staci Simpson, executive director, founder of ArtSpots is an award winning film and video producer with over ten years of professional experience. Her work has been distributed nationally and internationally. As a producer and community activist, Ms. Simpson has served notable clients such as Seattle Center, Pike Place Market and the Seattle Public School's Instructional Broadcast Center. The King County Office of Women and Minority Enterprises selected her as an Outstanding Woman Business Leader in 1995.


	Director of Photography Roy Wilson has had a prolific and varied career in TV & Film production In New York he directed and produced with Paper Tiger TV and Deep Dish TV. He has worked freelancing as a camera operator and gaffer in New York City for over 20 years before moving to Seattle. In addition he has taught film production at well-known institutions such as NYU, Rutgers and the School of Visual Arts
